bean’s cafe, Call for bowls

Our local chapter, Alaska Woodturners Association, has been a huge supporter of the Empty Bowl Project for a number of years. Artists are asked to submit bowls of nearly any medium. Each guest receives a bowl of of their choosing to take home as a reminder of all of the empty bowls in our community.

I am so happy to be able to make a meaningful contribution to this project this year.
At the moment, I’ve got 6 bowls somewhere along the production stream for the #bowlsforbeans fundraiser project for this coming March, but planning to complete a total of 10 for the event!

These bowls and many more will be at Beans Cafe Empty Bowl fundraiser on March 9, 2019. Come support our local soup kitchen whose mission is to feed the hungry and the homeless.

These bowls are over halfway through their journey; some beginning from a tree which blew over during a windstorm in my parents backyard.

Seattle and the coffee stop

My lovely wife surprised me with a trip to the Emerald city this weekend to visit with some family and friends. I love adventures and this one began as a surprise. To sweeten the deal, and to further develop my passion for football, she got us tickets to go watch the Seahawks battle the Cowboys Sunday, in what I hope will be the game of the year!

I’m enjoying a nice americano from Diva Espresso. An airport staple located in the sea-tac baggage claim. It’s been a stop of mine for years, whether hopping a shuttle to the rental garage, or being swooped up and heading straight to a Shindown concert. This coffee tastes great and much better than the cup from Starbucks, which spilled in my lap earlier on the plane during a rage of turbulence.

Thankfully we’ve got a few days before the game and a bit of time to explore!

And so it begins…

Live life, Live 907

I’m excited to say today is the day. The start of something new.

Up early for some morning meetings and immediately following my mind drifts to skiing and new gear. This is despite it being spring in Alaska, where the mornings are brighter, days are getting longer, and the snow is working harder than ever to stick around a few more days. Soon the sunshine will outlast most individuals on a daily basis and tourist traffic will make us reconsider why we decided to not continue our adventure another day.

Thanks for joining me!
